Victoria plugs Jindivik probe

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Victoria Petroleum is abandoning the Jindivik-1 well in South Australia’s Cooper basin because of permeability problems with the Murta oil pool at the site.

The well was drilled to a total depth of 1700 metres to test the Greater Mirgage Murta oil pool, which has potential in-place reserves of up to 23 million barrels of oil.

Further evaluation of the oil pool will take place after the delivery of pumping equipment to the Mirage oilfield in late May or early June this year.

Participants in PE 115 are operator Victoria (40%), Impress Petroleum (40%) and Roma Petroleum (20%).
