Maersk lines up Vincent FPSO

By Upstream staff

Danish group Maersk Contractors will convert its 308,000-tonne tanker Ellen Maersk into an FPSO that will enter service on Woodside Energy's Vincent play off Western Australia.

Maersk said it had entered a seven-year contract to design and construct the floating production and storage offloading vessel (FPSO) and provide it to Woodside. The conversion will be done at a Keppel shipyard in Singapore from early 2007.

Maersk said it was seeking Australian suppliers in its tendering process.

Production on the Vincent field is expected to start in 2008.

The FPSO will produce about 120,000 barrels of oil and 100 million cubic feet of gas per day, and will be capable of storing 1.9 million barrels of oil equivalent, Maersk said.

The vessel will require two offshore crews of 22 people and 10 onshore personnel.
