Released: Seadrill jack-up Seadrill 5
Kangean drill campaign ends
Indonesia's Energi Mega Persada (EMP) has released the jack-up Seadrill 5 (formerly Sakhalinskaya) from the Kangean gas development off East Java.
The jack-up was working under a six-month contract at a dayrate of $105,000, and is believed to have drilled production wells on the Terang-Sirasun-Batur (TSB) gas fields.
Norwegian rig giant Seadrill said the unit is en route to Sakhalin Island to drill a well for Shell. That contract is from May 2006 to October 2006 at a dayrate of US$112,000.
The rig then has a six-month stint with Cairn Energy in Indonesia, according to Seadrill, although the destination is more likely to be India.
