Making waves: Seismic specialists Inseis and Wavefield are to merge to form a new company.
Wavefield and Inseis in seismic tie-up
Bergen-based Seismic player Wavefield Geophysical is to merge with Olso multi-client specialist Inseis to form Wavefield Inseis.
The Norwegian tie-up aims to buy up further assets and target multi-client projects using Nkr200 million ($32.3 million) in new funding, the companies said.
Wavefield is a newcomer to the marine seismic field, operating two vessels from Bergen. Inseis owns a large library of seismic data from around the world.
Wavefield also said it would bring a third vessel into operation as part of its fleet from next year.
It said the Geowave Champion had been chartered from Solhaug for seven years and was undergoing conversion. It was expected to be ready in January.
Wavefiled said the 106-metre vessel would be equipped with the latest marine seismic equipment.
