Petsec plugs Eugene Island probe

Australia's Petsec Energy said today the Eugene Island 310-1 well had been plugged and abandoned after striking 10 net feet on non-commercial gas pay.

The company said the rig would be released from the well after operator Royal Exploration drilled to a total depth of 9330 feet in 220 feet of water.

Petsec holds a 50% working interest in the well.

The company said separately today that it had kicked off its first US onshore drilling programme in Louisiana with the spudding of the Bowie Lumber Associates-1 well on the Skywagon prospect, at its Moonshine Project joint venture in St James's Parish.
