Gassco plugs in Norpipe bypass

North Sea source: a platform on the Ekofisk field

Norwegian state-owned pipeline operator Gassco wrapped up an operation to bypass a now-defunt compressor platform on its Norpipe pipeline in the North Sea.

The Norpipe system links the Ekofisk and Valhall fields in the North Sea to the Norsea gas terminal at Emden in Germany.

Gassco said the operation to bypass the H-7 platform in the German sector of the North Sea was completed over the weekend while both the Valhall and Ekofish fields were closed for maintenance.

The work involved tying in a bypass pipe laid around the platform in May. The pipeline was sealed on either side of the H7 bypass with high-pressure plugs while the work was carried out, allowing pressure to be…
