CGG wins MEO seismic contract

By Upstream staff

French seismic contractor Compagnie Generale de Geophysique (CGG) is set to shoot 600 line kilometres of 2D seismic off Australia's Northern Territory for Methanol Australia (MEO).

The survey will start in September, with the Polar Duke adding a number of infill lines to the existing 2D grid covering NT/P68.

These lines target the Blackwood lead within the Plover formation, which has already been shown to be a hydrocarbon reservoir in the Bonaparte basin.

MEO said that finding gas at Blackwood, which covers a 480 square kilometre area, could significantly add to the permit's hydrocarbon reserves.
