Songa Mercur extends southern sojourn

Norwegian driller Songa Offshore said Santos had exercised an option to extend its contract for the semi-submersible rig Songs Offshore, operating on the Carnarvon basin off Australia.

The company said Santos had exercised a second six-month option to use the rig from July 2008 through to January 2009 at a dayrate of $400,000. Santos has one further six-month option remaining for the rig.

The Songa Mercur is capable of working in water depths of up to 1200 feet.
