Enbridge eyes Alaska pipeline

Canada's Enbridge said it has held informal discussions on joining the Alaska natural gas pipeline project proposed by BP and ConocoPhillips.

Enbridge chief Pat Daniel said his company was called by the two Alaska producers before they unveiled their project last month.

Daniel told Reuters in a conference call that Enbridge's talks with the two companies before their 8 April announcement were only informal.

The two told Enbridge there would be a point where they would be interested in either inviting pipeline companies into the project or put out a request for proposals for third parties to participate in the line.
