Reliance to plug GS01 duster

Reliance Industries is to plug and abandon the GS01-S1 exploration well off India’s West Coast after failing to find hydrocarbons in the targeted reef carbonates, minority partner Hardy Oil & Gas said.

The well, on Block GS01, was drilled to a depth of 3985 metres on the western edge of the block to test reef structures of Oligocene age.

UK-based Hardy said porous reservoir structures were struck in the well, but no oil or gas deposits.

Reliance is now drilling the GS01-M1 exploration well on the block to test similar Oligocene reefs and Eocene platform carbonates.

The partners will also work on proving up the Dhirubhai-33 (GS01-B1) discovery on the same block with a planned appraisal well, Hardy said in a statement.
