Dolphin makes Oman leap

The United Arab Emirates' (UAE) Dolphin Energy has started the regular supply of Qatari gas to Oman, the company said.

Dolphin signed a 25-year contract with Oman Oil in September 2005 to pump 200 million cubic feet per day of gas to Oman. Flows started on Friday.

"This is a historic moment for Dolphin Energy - it is equally significant for three nations who have embraced and supported the Dolphin Gas Project from the very beginning," said Ahmed Ali Al-Sayegh, Dolphin's chief executive officer.

"Now Dolphin, in it's turn, can contribute to Oman's own future economic growth."

The gas from Qatar’s offshore North field is processed at Dolphin Energy's Ras Laffan plant.
