Baraka on target with Mali survey

By Upstream staff

Perth-based Baraka Petroleum is almost three-quarters of the way through an airborne survey over its five Taoudeni basin blocks in Mali.

Baraka said it has completed 160,767 kilometres - about 68% - of the survey.

The company said that a third plane to be used in the survey will start work on 1 September, rather than this month as originally planned. It added that the delay is not expected to affect completion of the survey within the scheduled time frame.

The survey consists of combined magnetics and radiometrics acquisition of 235,400 line kilometres and a gravimetry survey of up to 44,346 kilometres.

Processing of data from the survey is being run concurrently with the survey to allow for an early start on the interpretation of target areas being identified within the 193,200 square kilometre area covered by the blocks 1, 2, 3, 4 & 9.
