Proserv gets Iwaki job

Iwaki: gas field located off eastern Japan coastline.

Malaysia-based SapuraAcergy has roped in Proserv Offshore for the decommissioning of Inpex’s Iwaki wellhead platform off the north-east coast of Japan.

The work scope includes the subsea cutting for the jacket of the Iwaki platform. The 16,000-tonne eight-legged structure will be lifted by derrick lay barge Sapura 3000 to be from the location to the seabed, creating an artificial reef.



Work will begin in March 2010. SapuraAcergy’s remotely operated vehicles will transport the cutting equipment from Proserv’s Asia Pacific base to Iwaki field.



The 20,735-tonne platform is touted as the largest offshore structure in the region slated for decommissioning.
