MEO gets Epenarra condensate figures

By Upstream staff

Methanol Australia has completed a study indicating that its Epenarra prospect off northern Australia may have in-place condensate reserves of about 800 million barrels.

The study by IPSA Consulting was based on contingent gas reserves of about 5.6 trillion cubic feet and a condensate-to-gas ration of about 150 barrels per million cubic feet in the structure.

The company has contracted PGS to shoot 3D seismic this month using the M/V Orient Explorer over the Epenarra prospect. It is also in the process of securing a rig to drill the Heron-2 well to test the structure.

Epenarra is a broad, low relief anticline with a mapped closure of about 1200 square kilometres at the Early Cretaceous Darwin formation where a 50-metre gas zone was found by Arco’s Heron-1 well in 1972.

Methanol Australia has a 100% stake in NT/P68.
