Ranhill to expand Philippines assets

By Upstream staff

Malaysia's Ranhill Energy is expected to this month secure a service contract in the Southern Sulu Sea basin, Philippines.

Philippines daily the Business Times quoted a Philippines Department of Energy official as saying that the service contract is currently awaiting President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s approval. This is expected early this month.

The company had at the beginning of this year secured a controlling stake in SC 49 in South Cebu. SC 49 contains reserves estimated at 720 million barrels of oil equivalent, according to Ranhill.
