AusTex plugs Kansas duster

US-focused Australian explorer AusTex Oil said it had plugged the Clark-3 well on the Cooper project in Sheridan County, Kansas after failing to find commercial quantities of oil.

AusTex said the 53% owned well was plugged after drill-stem tests of the Howard, Toronto and Lansing-Kansas City formation failed to produce despite shows during drilling.

The company said the well had tested the north-west edge of the seismically defined target and that further appraisal drilling would determine the extent of the reservoirs struck in the Clark-1 discovery well.

The well was operated by Castle Resources.

AusTex also said the Baggett 3-33 well on the Lancaster lease group near Tulsa, Oklahoma, had reached total depth of 2490 feet and was being cased for production…
