Mosaic hits gas at Downlands well

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Mosaic Oil has found gas at its Downlands-4 appraisal well in south-east Queensland's Surat/Bowen basin.

Interpretation of wireline logs indicated that the well had hit about four metres of net gas pay within an interval of between 1836 metres and 1841 metres in the primary target Tinowon sandstone.

The logs also showed that the Tinowon is about 5 metres updip from the Downlands-1 and Downlands East-1 producing wells.

Mosaic said that no flow testing will be carried out due to its similarities with other producing wells in the area and that the joint venture will run production casing and suspend the well as a future producer.

Downlands-4 will be completed for production by the Ensign Workover Rig 5 within the next four weeks.
