Congress hammers Hayward

Grilled: BP boss Tony Hayward testifies before Congress.

Lawmakers on the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on oversight and investigations pounded BP boss Tony Hayward with questions about the Deepwater Horizon disaster and said they were frustrated with his answers.



Hayward refused to condemn BP decisions regarding well construction and drilling operations, saying that judgement would have to wait until investigations into the tragedy are complete.

Prior to the hearing, Representatives Henry Waxman and Bart Stupak sent a letter to BP outlining a laundry list of perceived failures in the well design and operations that they expected Hayward to address.
