BP postpones Macondo well test

Marine fleet at Macondo spill site: BP steps up on oil spill containment in the US Gulf

BP and US officials have decided to postpone the testing of the Macondo well bore, in favour of performing additional analysis on the well testing procedure.

The test was rescheduled from mid-day to the evening of 13 July to assess the integrity of the well bore in order to determine the necessary steps to kill the leaking well.

However, the supermajor decided to conduct further analysis on 13 July evening and into 14 July Houston time before moving on with the well integrity test.

The decision was made following a meeting with Energy Secretary Steven Chu and his team as well as the National Incident Commander.
