TAP turns back on Iranian gas

No flows: from Iran

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) consortium today denied reports it was planning to source feedstock for the link from Iran, saying that in the current political climate it will not carry any Iranian gas.



The TAP consortium - EGL, Statoil and E.ON Ruhrgas - also reiterated plans to fill the pipe with gas from the second phase of the Shah Deniz development, off Azerbaijan.

In a joint statement, the three companies said: "The TAP pipeline is designed to cater for the volumes of gas from Shah Deniz phase two that will be exported beyond Turkey into Europe.

"TAP shareholders consider Caspian gas to be the initial source of supply to fill TAP’s initial capacity of 10 billion cubic metres per year."
