Leighton wins more Gorgon work

All smiles: for Australia's Leighton

Australian contractor Leighton is primed to start an A$800 milllion (US$762 million) deal to deliver the civil and underground works package for Chevron’s Gorgon liquefied natural gas project.

The contract win is in addition to Leighton’s current deal in hand at the Gorgon project where the outfit is completing works on the 2.1 kilometre LNG jetyy and marine structures in a consortium with Saipem.

Leighton said it would start work immediately and expects to complete the job by mid-2013.

The company was previously awarded a deal in consortium with Saipem worth A$1.1 billion for the design, material supply, fabrication, construction and commissioning of the LNG jetty and marine structures, plus the design, fabrication and installation of jetty pre-assembled racks.
