Lybster taps due online by year end

Ready for flow: Lybster

UK’s Reach Coal Seam Gas, a subsidiary of Reach Exploration, said today it expects production from the Lybster development, off the UK, to be on stream before the end of the year.

“There should be production later this year – we should get first production very soon,” said coal bed methane operations manager Graham Dean at a conference in London today.

Lybster lies in Block 11/24 and was first discovered by Premier Offshore in 1996 but deemed un-commercial to develop.

The discovery is now being developed via an extended reach well drilled from an onshore location.

Reach’s partner, and operator of the project, is London-based Caithness Petroleum.
