The Woodside-led North West Shelf Venture (NWSV) has signed a heads of agreement with Japan’s Chubu Electric for the ongoing supply of liquefied natural gas.
Under the seven-year deal, the NWSV will supply almost 500,000 tonnes of LNG per annum to Chubu from April 2009, bringing the the total amount of LNG supplied to over 1 million tpa.
Chubu is the third of the NWSV’s original Japanese LNG customers to renew its long-term LNG supply requirements this year.
The six equal partners in the North West Shelf Venture are Woodside, Shell, BP, Chevron, BHP Billiton and Japan Australia LNG (MiMi).
China’s state-owned giant CNOOC is also a member of the NWSV but does not have an interest in its infrastructure.
