Buccaneer spuds first Kenai well

Alaska: Buccaneer has spudded the first well on its Kenai Loop project in the Cook Inlet basin

US-focused Buccaneer Energy has spudded the Kenai Loop-1 well in the Cook Inlet basin, onshore Alaska.

Buccaneer said the well was spudded on Friday and had reached the designed surface casing point at 3075 feet earlier today.

It added preperations were being made to log the interval after which the surface casing would be set before drilling the next interval which includes the Beluga formation.

Kenai Loop-1 is a step-out well from the adjacent Kenai Cannery Loop field and is expected to take about another 20 days to reach its planned total depth of 10,500 feet.

Buccaneer is currently in the process of gaining permits for another three drilling locations…
