Eni enters European shale play

Italian explorer Eni said today it has bought Minsk Energy Resources making it operator of three licences in the Polish Baltic basin.





The acreage, covering around 1967 square kilometres, is located in the north-east of Poland and is Eni’s first entry into European shale play.

“Drilling operations are expected to start next year, with a total exploration commitment of 6 wells,” said Eni.



“Eni will operate the licences leveraging the extensive knowledge and expertise acquired through its joint venture in the Barnett shale in Texas.”
