LNG get Gladstone extension

Gladstone: LNG has had its lease at the Queensland port extended by 12 months.

Australia’s Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (LNG Limited) has had a lease agreement relating to its planned LNG project at Fisherman’s Landing in Queensland extended by 12 months.

Under the agreement with the Gladstone Ports Corporation, LNG Limited subsidiary, Gladstone LNG, will need to meet certain conditions by 31 December, including the obtaining gas supply for the planned 3 million tonne per annum LNG project.

The company will then have a further six months to satisfy the remaining conditions which primarily relate to the obtaining the necessary approvals to begin construction on the project.

The lease extension comes following China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) subsidiary, China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation (HQCEC), agreeing to buy a 19.9% stake in LNG…
