Russia in China gas pledge

Russia's state-controlled Gazprom will eventually supply no less than 68 billion cubic metres of gas per year to the China’s growing economy, a top Russian offical has claimed.

Speaking this week in Beijing, first Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin also would not exclude the possibility that the Russian government will give stakes in Russian gas development projects to Chinese companies.

Sechin also reiterated that the government instructed state gas monopoly Gazprom to stamp out disagreements with China National Petroleum company regarding a long-term gas supply contract running for the period of 30 years.

Sechin said that this contract is set to be ready for signing by 10 June.

However, according to market sources, Gazprom and CNPC have yet to agree major issues…
