Frigstad takes on Kan Tan IV

Kan Tan IV: Rig manager Frigstad Offshore Drilling is seeking contracts for the 1983-built semi-submersible.

The Sinopec Star Petroleum-owned Kan Tan IV semisubmersible drilling unit is undergoing maintenance as its new marketing manager, Frigstad Offshore Drilling, seeks new drilling contracts.

Sinopec appointed the Cyprus-based company as the operational and commercial manager of the rig in place of Maersk Drilling in June, Frigstad today confirmed in an announcement.

Essential repair work to the rig forced a temporary stop on a drilling programme for AWE’s Hoki-1 well off the coast of New Zealand in March last year, though the rig continued to work throughout the year.

Kan Tan IV, an Enhanced Pacesetter L907, is also undergoing a special periodic survey at Keppel Fels in Singapore, Frigstad said.
