Enough reserves: for a third train at Tangguh

Energy major BP has discovered enough reserves to give the go-ahead for a third liquefied natural gas train at its Tangguh gas field, Indonesia's oil and gas watchdog BPMigas said on Friday.

However, BP says no decision has yet been made to proceed with a third train, adding that the company is still working on a development plan.

"The result of reserve certification shows that BP can build a third LNG train with a capacity of 3.8 million tonnes per annum," Reuters quoted R. Priyono, chairman of BPMigas, as saying.

He said BP found additional gas reserves at Tangguh field, in Indonesia's easternmost Papua province, with production rate at around 700 million cubic feet.
