Taranaki flows: New Zealand Energy has flowed oil at a rate of 1100 bpd from the Copper Moki-1 well

Canadian explorer New Zealand Energy said it has successfully flow tested its onshore Copper Moki-1 oil discovery in the Taranaki basin and is taking steps for long-term production.

Copper Moki-1 was drilled in January this year, and hit a 12.2-metre pay section at a depth of about 1800 metres.

New Zealand Energy said the well flowed at 1100 barrels per day of 41.8-degree API oil with some associated gas over a 48-hour period.

"Our team is working to advance Copper Moki-1 into production while continuing our aggressive exploration program to test additional targets," said New Zealand Energy president Bruce McIntyre.
