Schlumberger comes home to Texas

By Upstream staff

Oilfield services giant Schlumberger has moved its corporate headquarters to Houston from New York City.

The company said it had completed the move today after maintaining its corporate headquarters in New York for 40 years.

The company has co-ordinated its North American operations from Houston since 1934. In 1995, the Houston operation moved to a large site in Sugarland, Texas, where the company is now headquartered.

Reuters reported that the move cost Schlumbergewr $9.3 million.

Schlumberger employs more than 5000 people in the Houston area. It also maintains offices in Paris and The Hague.
