Rosneft mulls ExxonMobil as Chevron sub

In talks: Eduard Khudainatov-led Rosneft speaking with ExxonMobil and one other about replacing Chevron in Black Sea plays

ExxonMobil looks to be in line to add to its huge Arctic deal with Rosneft as it speaks with the Russian state oil company about replacing Chevron on Black Sea projects.

The former is one of two companies Rosneft is speaking with about replacing Chevron on the Val Shatskogo (Skatsky Ridge) field, Russia’s Interfax news agency quoted Rosneft chief executive Eduard Khudainatov as saying.

The identity of the other player involved was not revealed although Total has expressed an interest.

It is no surprise that Rosneft is mulling ExxonMobil for the Black Sea work after Chevron’s involvement began to falter in March and finally hit the skids in July. At the end of last month ExxonMobil and Rosneft announced a $3.2 billion tie-up on…
