In the pipeline: Shell could lift Forcados force majeure early

Shell could lift as early as the end of October a force majeure declared on some Nigerian crude exports on Monday following an explosion.

The Anglo-Dutch supermajor expects to begin flushing of the Trans Forcados pipeline this weekend in advance of full repairs.

The company announced on Monday that the line had been shut following a blast and subsequent oil leak. At the time the oil giant estimated the force majeure measure would remain in place for the remainder of 2011.

There was better news on Tuesday, however, as Shell indicated it could begin exports of Forcados crude much earlier than anticipated.
