Trio in $1.4bn Dunkirk LNG deal

Splash the cash: Total, EDF and Fluxys commit EUR 1bn to Dunkirk LNG terminal

A consortium of three gas giants has committed nearly $1.5 billion to the construction of a new LNG terminal in northern France.

French majors Total and EDF as well as Fluxys of Belgium are throwing a combined EUR 1 billion ($1.44 billion) at the proposed new facility at Dunkirk, EDF wrote in a statement today.

The trio also penned an agreement allowing Total to reserve up to 2 billion cubic metres (cbm) a year of storage and regassification capacity from Dunkirk LNG, EDF’s announcement to the London Stock Exchange continued.

EDF holds a 65% stake in the terminal with Total grabbing 25% and Fluxys 10%.
