BNK wins German concession

German win: BNK has been awarded the Weinbergen concession in the Thuringian basin

Canadian explorer BNK Petroleum has been awarded the Weinbergen concession in the Thuringian basin, Germany.





BNK said the main target in the 535,000 acre concession, along with the previously awarded Seeadler and Steinadler concessions, was a fractured carbonate play within a proven hydrocarbon system.

It added the carbonates were in direct contact with organically rich shale and it believed the project had the potential for wet gas and liquids rich production.

“Similar to the prolific Austin Chalk play in the United States, the company believes that these naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs can best be developed by using technologically advanced conventional horizontal drilling and completion techniques,” BNK said in…
