Vietgazprom to hire Energy Searcher

Energy Searcher: The vessel will drill four wells offshore Vietnam.

Vietgazprom will pay about $72 million for the use of Northern Offshore drilling vessel Energy Searcher for a four-well drilling programme offshore Vietnam.

The programme would start after the vessel finished a contract with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), where it is currently operating in the Arafura Sea off Indonesia

In an announcement to the Oslo Bors on Wednesday, Northern said the Petrovietnam and Gazprom joint venture expected the programme to take up to 100 days per well.

Northern Offshore chief executive Garry Casswell said the company was pleased Vietgazprom had selected their vessel again.

“Along with our other recent contract announcements, this will contribute significantly to our 2012 revenue backlog.”
