By Upstream staff

Chile's state oil company Enap will carry out a further drill stem test at the Shahd-1 discovery in the East Ras Qattara sector of Egypt's Eastern Desert.

The test will be carried out in the Upper Bahariya formation once hydraulic fracturing is finishedd.

The well flowed between 700 barrels and 1000 barrels of 41 degrees API oil during a drill stem test over the Lower Bahariya formation.

Shahd-1 is the first of two back-to-back wells in the block.

Partners in the concession are Enap subsidiary Sipetrol (50.5%) and Oil Search (49.5%).
