Oil find: Brownstone and partners strike oil in Llanos basin, Colombia

Canada’s Brownstone Energy has revealed an oil discovery at an exploration well in Colombia.

The Toronto-based company said its joint venture partners in the Mani-1 well on Block 27 in the Llanos basin have found oil in the primary target of the Upper Mirador formation.

The well was spudded in October and reached total depth of 10,850 feet on December 11, Toronto-listed Brownstone said.

Initial flows were tested at 1510 barrels of fluid per day with a 32% watercut, equating to 1025 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

However, further testing produced flows of 2310 barrels of fluid per day with a 16% watercut, equating to 1940 boepd.
