PTTEP coy on Cove move

Hushed up: PTTEP distances itself from earlier comments on Cove Energy interest

PTTEP Exploration & Production has knocked back reports that it is to enter the race to acquire Cove Energy but has stopped short of denying any interest in the UK independent.

British newspaper Sunday Times reported that the Thai oil giant was one of those considering a bid for Cove which earlier this month threw up a ‘For Sale’ sign for the entire company.

Reuters on Monday quoted PTTEP chief executive Anon Sirisaengtaksin as saying: "We are studying a plan but no real decision has been made whether we will make a bid or not.

"Eventually, it will depend on the price...We are keen on some projects with most of the assets located in Africa.
