Drilling ahead: Maersk Resolve

Norwegian independent Noreco has kicked off drilling of an exploration well at its Luna prospect in the Danish sector of the North Sea.

The Luna-1X probe is being drilled by Maersk Drilling jack-up Maersk Resolve in Noreco-operated licence 1/11 at a location about 150 kilometres north-west of Esbjerg, with drilling expected to take about one month.

The well is targeting between 196 million and 490 million barrels of oil equivalent of gross resources at the frontier play.

Although it is only given a 14% probability of success, the probe is seen by Noreco as a play opener that could derisk the larger Rocky prospect.
