Well success: Anadarko hits large gas pay off Mozambique

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation has struck a large column of natural gas at an appraisal well off Mozambique.

The news came on the same day as Tullow Oil announced that operator Anadarko had also hit hydrocarbons at its Jupiter-1 well off Sierra Leone.



The US independent giant hit 176 metres of net pay at the Lagosta-3 well in Block 1 of the Rovuma basin area, junior partner in the well Cove Energy said on Tuesday.

The well, operated by Anadarko, is the eighth successful well to be drilled in the Windjammer, Lagosta, Barquentine and Camarao (WLBC) complex and hit high quality gas sands, Cove said.
