Hackett switches Anadarko seats

CEO no more: Jim Hackett vacates CEO seat at Anadarko to become chairman

Jim Hackett has stepped aside as chief executive of US independent behemoth Anadarko to become to the company's new executive chairman.

The industry stalwart has been replaced in the hot seat by current chief operating officer Al Walker, a statement from the company read on Tuesday.



Hackett, who has been chief executive of NYSE-listed Anadarko for eight years, said he was taking the step "to consider other avenues for personal and professional growth".



The long-time boss commented: "This is a good time for the transition to a long-planned succession, given the company's strong exploration and operational success, and robust portfolio for long-term growth."
