Brae Alpha back in action

By Upstream staff

US producer Marathon Oil has restarted production from the Brae Alpha platform, in the UK North Sea, after flows were shut in earlier this week after a minor gas leak.

Brae Alpha resumed output at a reduced level late Tuesday, a day after production was halted because of a gas alert. No personnel were injured or evacuated in the incident.

"We have identified the source of a very minor gas leak," a company spokeswoman told Reuters.

"Production could be back to normal later today."

Brae Alpha is one of a handful of Marathon platforms in the region, which in total produces around 30,000 barrels of oil per day.
