Double Eagle must wait on Niobrara completion

Waiting: wildlife law forces Double Eagle to wait until August to complete Niobrara well

Double Eagle Petroleum has finished drilling and casing an appraisal well targeting the Niobrara shale but must wait until August to complete it due to environmental restrictions.



The Denver-based company said its Atlantic Rim well in the Greater Green River basin had been cased to 9450 feet and preliminary results showed that the Niobrara section of the well “is oil-charged with natural fractures, and that there are potential productive gas zones” beneath it.

The company will not be able to complete the well until August this year because “wildlife stipulations” forbid completion activity in the area between 1 March and 1 August.
