new
generation
shallow-water
construction
vessel
would
allow
it
execute
upstream
activities
within
the
lake,
one
of
the
country’s
most
important
oil
producing
provinces.
PDVSA
christened
the
self-propelled
dynamic
positioning
vessel
as
the
Libertador.
Venezuelan
Oil
Minister
and
PDVSA
president
Rafael
Ramirez
said
the
pipe-laying
vessel
was
“100%
built”
with
local
engineering,
procurement
and
construction
capabilities.
The
new
barge,
he
added,
helps
to
underscore
the
country’s
ability
to
follow
through
on
its
“oil
sovereignty”
goals.
The
vessel
was
deployed
on
Thursday.
