Maersk to bag $34m in Chariot rig deal

Dollar value: Maersk revealed on Wednesday its contract with Chariot for the charter of the Maersk Deliverer was worth $34 million

Rig owner Maersk Drilling has revealed it will earn $34 million under the charter contract with London-listed Chariot Oil & Gas for the semi-submersible Maersk Deliverer.

As reported on Tuesday, Chariot’s wholly-owned subsidiary Enigma Oil & Gas has chartered the rig for two months to drill a single well on the Tapir South prospect, off Namibia.

Maersk said the charter was expected to run for a period of about 60 days which would give the contract an estimated day rate of about $566,667 per day.

The Maersk Deliverer is an ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig, capable of operating in water depths of 10,000 feet and drilling to a depth of up to 30,000 feet.
