Salym output right on target

By Upstream staff

Output at the Salym oilfield in western Siberia has hit the target production level of 60,000 barrels per day, Sibir Energy said today.

Sibir owns a 50% stake in Salym, with Shell holding the remainder.

In June, Salym - operated by the Salym Petroleum Development (SPD) venture - was pumping 50,000 bpd, on track with the joint venture's end-of-year target of 60,000 bpd.

"Having already announced record production just one week ago, we are pleased to see SPD hit the 60,000 bpd milestone one month ahead of schedule," said Sibir chief executive Henry Cameron.

"With 162 wells drilled and only 101 of those on stream, it can be seen that production is gathering momentum," he said.
