Phu Horm goes with the flow

By Upstream staff

Salamander Energy said its partner Hess has turned on the taps at the Phu Horm gas field, in north-east Thailand.

Initial production from Phu Horm is from two wells, with further wells to be brought on stream next year. Gross production will be about 60 million cubic feet per day, ramping up to an expected rate of 100 MMcfd.

Gas is being supplied to a power station at Nam Phong under a 15-year sales agreement with PTT.

Phu Horm is operated by Hess with a 35% stake. The other partners are APICO (35%), PTTEP (20%) and ExxonMobil (10%). Salamander owns 27.2% of APICO, which gives it an interest of 9.5% in Phu Horm.
