PetroChina to buy Pars LNG

By Upstream staff

Total and its partners in Iran’s Pars LNG project have signed a preliminary agreement to sell 3 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per annum to PetroChina over 25 years, according to the Iranian Oil Ministry.

Meanwhile, the Mehr news agency has quoted National Iranian Oil Company managing director Gholamhossain Nozari as saying that Iran is holding talks with three separate Chinese companies over liquefied natural gas sales, “but final agreements are yet to be reached”, he added.

Iran and China were said to be holding talks over the possibility of China’s Sinopec taking part in developing the Yadavaran oilfield and buying 100 million tonnes of Iranian LNG over 25 years.
