Australia’s Otto Energy has finished a 2D seismic survey over the Edirne licence in Turkey and is getting ready to drill a well before the end of the year.
Final processing and interpretation of the 185 line kilometres of 2D seismic is currently under way.
Otto said the Koyustu-1 exploration well will target a prospect near the Bati Umur-1 gas find.
In December last year Otto hit several gas-bearing zones at Bati Umur but did not flow test the well as the weather was too severe.
However, the company said that following the completion of Koyustu-1, the rig may be moved to flow test Bati Umur-1
Should both wells be successful, a feasibility study will be carried out to identify the best way to commercialise them.
